Privacy notice

This is a static, personal, non-commercial website. Data protection is kept as simple as possible:

  • No cookies, no tracking. The site sets no cookies, uses no analytics or statistics services and no advertising networks. Light and dark mode follow your device setting.
  • No third-party content on the main pages. On the home page, CV, publications, projects and teaching pages, fonts, images and scripts are served exclusively from this server, and visiting them transmits no data to third parties.
  • Learning area for my children (/lernwelt/, /andrin/, /joris/). These pages store game progress — coins, tokens and completed exercises — in the browser’s local storage. The data stays on the device, is never sent to the server and is not analysed by me. The cinema and music room can play YouTube videos (Google Ireland Ltd.): a video is loaded only after it is clicked, and then through youtube-nocookie.com. From that moment Google’s privacy policy applies. The page /andrin/ additionally loads sports results from ESPN and animations from Giphy.
  • Server logs. For technical reasons the web server (nginx) records for each request: a truncated IP address (last octet removed, so it can no longer be attributed to a person), date and time, the page requested, HTTP status, bytes transferred, the referring link and the browser type. These logs serve only secure operation and error analysis and are deleted automatically after 14 days. The server is hosted by netcup GmbH (Karlsruhe, Germany).
  • Contact by e-mail. If you write to me, I use your details only to answer your enquiry.
  • External links. Linked third-party sites (such as the University of Bern, GitHub, ORCID, publishers) apply their own privacy policies.

The legal basis is the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) and, where applicable, the GDPR. You have the right to access, rectify and erase your data; please contact the address above.
